The classic among die steels according to DIN EN ISO 4957, for very high demands on hot wear resistance and required deep hardening.
Widely used for tools in forging machines such as hammers and saddles. The production of dies and die inserts made of 1.2714 is also a typical application. The commercially available version is pre-quenched and tempered (+QT); the annealed version (+A) is less frequently available.
