Plastic mould steel with very good tempering properties.
Widely used for dies, pressing tolls and injection tools, even with large cross-sections. 1.2738 is very well suited for applications where polishing, hard chrome plating or other surface coatings are required; graining of the moulds is also possible. The commercially available versions are annealed (+A), pre-quenched and tempered (+QT) and pre-quenched and tempered with higher hardness “high hard”.
