Hot-work steel
Hot-work steel is one of the tool steels and is used, for example, for applications up to around 400 degrees Celsius. The enormously high wear resistance at high temperatures is a main feature of these steel grades.
Thanks to its chemical composition, the mechanical properties of hot-work steel remain very constant even at higher temperatures. If the temperature exceeds 400 degrees Celsius, the hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance are reduced. Typical applications include dies in the forging industry. And plastic moulds in which small parts such as ballpoint pens or very large components such as bumpers are formed from hot plastic.
